it's gonna be cold, it's gonna be grey, and it's gonna last you the rest of your life

Ah, yes.  It's Groundhog Day!  It's also the day of cleanup after the "huge" blizzard of 2011.  There was no school today, and for good reason - we had 10 inches of light blowy snow that was creating white-out conditions that nobody should be driving in.  I just received a call from the school system that school is being called off tomorrow as well due to "weather and road conditions."  The roads have been plowed, the wind chills are going to be pretty low tonight, but that's tonight - not tomorrow.  I don't quite get it.  Wusses.

I will be headed back to work tomorrow leaving my husband to deal with the snow-day-happy kid who wants to play video games all day, go outside every great once-in-a-while, and basically test his patience on a never-ending basis.  I would gladly stay at home with them if I didn't have to use a vacation or sick day.  Oh well.  I have a feeling this is one day our son wouldn't mind living over and over again...well, that is if we had his favorite pizza and he won every Halo battle.  Happy snow day.....again.

i'm totally okay with this

I'm sure you've heard that the new Superman has been cast.  Yes, I have also asked why they need a new Superman movie anyway, but since they can't seem to come up with anything new and have to rehash the classics over and over again, so be it.  I have to say, I do like their choice - Henry Cavill.  Never heard of him ? Well, if you ever watched The Tudors, you know who he is.  In fact, he was my favorite part of the show...well, other than the history and the debauchery, but when he was included in it, it was even more fun.  I think he'll fit the role quite well as long as he has some decent writing to work with.  He doesn't even need to bother wearing the outfit...

No, nobody will ever fit the role as well as Christopher Reeve, but I don't mind this guy trying.

well that explains it

This afternoon, the family decided to head into a neighboring town to do a little browsing.  (I know...you envy my thrilling life.)  As we were headed into said neighboring town, we noticed that the driver in the red pickup truck in front of us seemed agitated.  He'd do a quick jerk of the wheel, he'd throw his head back, his arms would move.  My husband actually asked me if I noticed if that guy looked upset, but we couldn't see anyone else in the car, and he didn't have a cell phone up to his ear or anything.  Maybe a bluetooth?  Singing along with death metal?  We were perplexed...

...until two seconds later when he picked up his arm and a female lifted her head from his crotchal region and sat back up in her seat.

Aha!  Of course!  We both started laughing...and we laughed and laughed.  And that laughter naturally piqued the curiosity of our son sitting in the back seat who asked us what was so funny.  Then we laughed even harder because there was absolutely nothing that we could tell him about that situation.  We made up some lame excuse that I'm sure he didn't buy, but he dropped it nonetheless.

Eventually we passed the truck, hoping the guy at least looked happy, but alas...the very homely man looked like he was just going about his business as his female companion picked things out of her hair.

Somewhat of a disappointment.  If you're going to risk your lives for an orgasm, at least have a damn smile on your face.

6 legs too many

As I was falling asleep last night, I thought it would be a great night for dreams.  I was feeling somewhat amorous, so I thought I might dream of a member of the other gender.  No one specifically, but there are so many to choose from, I thought one of them might pop up during the night.

I did dream, but not about men as I had hoped.  No, for some reason my subconscious decided to dream about a spider.  A huge, monstrous, bird-eating spider.

I don't remember much of the dream other than I was at an aquarium or museum, it was night, I was with a small group of people though I don't remember who (apparently not any men that I would be interested in).  We had a tour guide for some reason or a volunteer stopped by to talk to the group.  We were in the main hall area when something caught my eye outside a window on the second floor.  It was a moving shadow.  As I strained my eyes to try to make it out, I could see bird wings flapping and huge appendages (legs, people...minds outta the gutters) wrapping around them.  That's when the guide said it was a spider.  I think it had a name, but I don't remember what it was.  He then took us around to a place where we could see it better and shined a light on it and it looked quite a bit like one of the spiders we had living on our porch this past summer...except about one million times the size.  I think I woke up not long after gazing at it in wonder and fear for a few minutes.

So, yeah.  Not what I was hoping for...at all.  How my mind went from hoping to dream of men with broad shoulders and strong arms to a giant eight-legged arachnid eating birds is beyond me.  Am I secretly creeped out by them, feeling like they're wrapping me up in a web of something or other?  Whoa - I think some dime store novelist has entered my brain.  Maybe I'll hope for better dreams tomorrow.

year number thirty-six

Another birthday is upon me.  Being an only child, I believe the day is all about me and the world should acknowledge my special day.  Isn't everyone like that?  ;) Okay, maybe not.

I honestly don't feel any older this year.  Last year I had a hard time turning 35.  It just sounded old.  This year, I'm feeling great!  I'm healthier, thinner, laugh more, play more.  What a difference a year makes!  To top it all off, and as one of my co-workers pointed out to me, I am at my sexual peak.  Hell yeah!

Bring it on 36!  I'm game and I'm looking forward to making it one of my best years ever.

one-hundred posts!

I just realized that the last post was number 100!  Woo hoo!  I'm so excited, I think I might throw my followers a party - I can afford paying for two people.  ;)  Thanks for sticking with me!

where was my invite?

I love the Golden Globes.  Why?  Because it's movies and television in the same place.  Jon Hamm, Johnny Depp and Robert Downey Jr. all in the same room.  Sign me up!  I can get all dressed up, sit at a table of strangers, drink, and applaud with the best of them.  Come on!  I would like to ask the HFPA to consider sending me an invitation next year so that I can listen in on stimulating conversation...

...and take in the sights...

...and stand up and cheer, but only when appropriate.

Thank you.

That's right - a boquet of bacon roses.  What woman in her right mind wouldn't squeal with delight when she received these?
